While COVID-19 is here for the foreseeable future, the elevator industry (like many) continues to evolve in response to the daily changes.
Here are 5.5 ways Rideau Elevator Services Inc. is helping you stay ahead and stay informed of ways you can minimize risks and costs to you and your business:
- There are products on the market that drastically reduce the chance of transmission of germs through contact. New elevator button systems are available, and they might be worth considering at your buildings. Button systems that are contactless, removing the requirement to touch floor buttons to call the car.
- When an elevator gets replaced or altered, the work must be registered with the TSSA. These fees which typically forms part of the overall price of the job, will increase substantially. To avoid these increases it would be prudent to undertake major project work in advance of the fee hike. Please call our office for more information, we can help you plan your project in the most fiscally responsible fashion.
- While this pandemic has increased our operational costs in many ways, Rideau Elevator Services will maintain a cap on the annual increases. In return we ask that you provide us access to your buildings using a lock box so that we may complete routine regular maintenance despite buildings being at lower capacity. The minimum provincial maintenance requirements have not changed despite these unusual times.
- Traffic patterns in buildings are changing. Typically, elevators are travelling at no more than 25% of their capacity because passengers are physically distanced. We ask that you remain vigilant in reporting maintenance issues, and exercise discretion where possible, when it comes to using the elevators with other passengers, taking the stairs, or waiting for the next elevator trip.
- COVID-19 has impacted everyone. Vendors along our supply chain have felt the strain of increased lead times which have made their way down the chain. We work had with our trusted partners daily to maintain delivery dates, and project start dates. In turn, we have modified our project scheduling process to minimize delays and negative consequences to our clients, and their customers.
- 2021 is here, we will pivot and be flexible when needed, while holding steadfast where applicable. If 2020 has taught us anything, we have learned to be grateful for the relationships we’ve built.
